Here's a question for all of you to think about.

You can practice your lessons for a perfect situation and try to perfect your technique and fundamentals, but do you practice what to do when the situation is not perfect and you messed up applying your lesson? What do you do then; do you stop and try again?

(I know studios with instructors that only teach what they think is a perfect situation constantly stopping and restarting their students to get that perfect situation. I found these instructors create studio fighters who can't adapt and who IMO would get destroyed in a REAL street fight.)

Or do you train to continue on from what you have and try to recover or change up into another lesson?

IMO, you need to train both for perfect situations while learning a lesson but also train for situations that are not perfect and learn how to adapt to continue on.

One method of doing this is lesson chaining. Or working lessons that complement each other.

Another method is to base out attack lesson from multiple angles of attack.

Yet another is to base out blocking lessons from multiple types of opponent attacks. Right, Left punches, roundhouses, various kicks, grabs, etc...

And yet another is to work attacks with multiple opponents coming at you so you can learn how to stack the multiple opponents or use one opponent as a shield.

I can go on and on but you get the idea. If you are not getting this type of training then I suggest you seek it out.

Have a great Friday people, Master Dale A. Garrison.

The first step into any new journey is always the hardest, but each additional step becomes easier since each new step builds upon the past steps. Step forward into your new training journey.

Folks,

I'd like to congratulate Alton on passing his green belt test. Alton tested for about an hour on 7/17/2013 by:

* Performing a falling demo
* Doing a basic 8 stance demo
* Demoing a variety of Hand Leverages, Hand Grab Escapes, Open Lessons
* Doing 2 hand forms
* Doing 1 Staff form
* Demoing a set of offensive attack lessons
* Answering a list of San Soo fighting concepts questions
* Doing a free-styling session with multiple attackers

I will load up some group photos of Alton and the guys who he tested on later next week.

Jimmy H. Woo's San Soo Kung Fu is alive and well in the city of Orange and La Mirada CA... Don't let anyone tell you different!

Good job Alton!

Plus a big thank you goes out to Raul and Dimitri for helping Alton out during his testing.
